At Acqua Panna, we care about safeguarding our source and the territory that surrounds it, as part of our efforts to preserve the natural environment. That's why we have announced the ambitious commitment to achieve Carbon Neutrality in all of our operations by 2022.
This means attaining net-zero carbon dioxide emissions through reduction wherever possible in four key areas - production, packaging, logistics and natural capital - and offsetting actions elsewhere.
Acqua Panna and S.Pellegrino have been working for years to reduce energy consumption in our production plants. Using energy exclusively from renewable sources, in the 9 years to 2021 we reduced CO2 emissions by 60%.
All of our bottles are 100% recyclable, and Acqua Panna recently introduced a bottle made of 100% recycled plastic (rPET), a sign of the Group’s commitment to promote recycling.
We are also working to reduce emissions related to logistics, for example through innovative means of transport, like our fleet of vehicles fuelled by LNG, the fossil fuel with the lowest carbon intensity. And we are further reducing our impact by rapidly moving to Bio-LNG – a next generation bio fuel - for both land and sea transport.
As part of our commitment to continuous improvement in sustainable water management, we have undertaken the route to certification under the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS), the international benchmark in the field.
Finally, we are committed to safeguarding the territory around our source, developing activities to enhance its natural capital. To this end, Acqua Panna has launched a partnership with Federparchi, the Federation of Italian Parks and Nature Reserves, to protect the biodiversity of the natural environment around its source in Tuscany.
